Our Meetings and Outings:
During the school year, we typically meet two to three times per month.
Some meetings take place at our Scout Lodge, where we learn Cub Scout skills and earn achievements. Other times, we go on outings such as our recent trips to Hawk Mountain Bird Sanctuary and hiking at Locust Lake State Park.
During the summer, we focus on outdoor activities such as hiking, summer camp, and special events.

Here are some activities we completed last year:
Learned Cub Scout skills such as citizenship, flag etiquette, outdoor safety, and using the buddy system. Learned how to read maps and use a compass, We made Christmas ornaments using a variety of materials and techniques. There was a Christmas party with games and a visit from Santa!
We built Pinewood Derby cars and competed in both a Pack race at the Scout Lodge and a District race at the Fairlane Mall. We built and decorated birdhouses with the help of a parent volunteer who is a carpenter.
We Learned campfire safety and made s’mores
One of our favorite outings was attending a wildlife demonstration where Scouts saw a live hawk and owl up close!

The Scout Troop typically meets on most Sundays during the school year. Meetings are held at our Scout Lodge, but we also spend a lot of time outside and in the community.
Scouts BSA is different from Cub Scouts. As Scouts get older, they take more responsibility for planning and running the program themselves. Scouts help decide what they want to learn and where they want to go, plan activities and outings, lead meetings, and take on leadership roles within the Troop. Adult leaders are there to teach, guide, and make sure everyone stays safe, but the goal is for the Scouts to do as much as they can on their own.
A big part of the program is getting outside. We will spend time hiking, camping, learning outdoor skills, cooking, navigating with a map and compass, and working together to solve problems.
Along the way, Scouts work on rank advancement and learn practical skills, but the bigger goal is helping young people become confident, responsible, capable adults. We place a strong emphasis on leadership, character, teamwork, service to others, and learning how to make good decisions.

Scouting works because people in our community are willing to pitch in. You don't have to be a lifelong Scout, an expert outdoorsman, or someone who can commit every week. We have plenty of ways to help, and we're always looking for more adults who want to be part of the program.
Our Cub Scout dens need Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders to help organize meetings, teach activities, and give Scouts a great experience. Being a Den Leader does not have to mean taking on another weekly commitment. Our leaders share ideas, activities, lesson plans, and resources with each other, so nobody has to reinvent the wheel. Some of our Den Leaders volunteer about once a month during the school year. That's only about 8 or 9 commitments throughout the year.
You can also start as an Assistant Den Leader, help when you're available, and get more involved over time if you decide you enjoy it.
Not every volunteer needs to work directly with Scouts.
If you're good at organizing, fixing things, planning events, talking to people, or getting things done, we can use your help.

These jobs can often be done on your own schedule and don't necessarily require attending Scout meetings every week.
Every volunteer makes the program a little better.

You don't have to be a Scout or a parent to support our Pack and Troop.
Throughout the year, we'll have a variety of fundraisers that help pay for Scout activities, camping, equipment, and other program expenses.

We'll let you know when orders open, what we're selling, and when everything will be ready for pickup.
And if you'd like to help sell something instead of just buying it, we'd love to have you! Share the fundraiser with your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or anyone else who might want to support local Scouts.
